Air-popped popcorn is healthier than microwave popcorn

HEALTHIER AIR-POPPED POPCORN

INGREDIENTS

  • White, yellow, or tri-color corn kernels from the organic bins at the natural foods store otherwise it’s probably GMO corn
  • 1-2T Coconut oil, unrefined or Extra virgin olive oil
  • Himalayan salt, to taste
  • Spices and seasonings – see below

DIRECTIONS:  use an air popper to pop corn kernels. Don’t have one, they’re fairly inexpensively, check big box stores.  Mix the spices and seasonings and salt if using, in a small bowl.  Try some of the spice and seasoning suggestions below, or get creative.  After popcorn is popped, Mix in 1T of oil per batch then toss, if too dry add 1T more.  Mix in the spices and other seasonings.

SPICES – SEASONINGS

  • • Nutritional yeast with organic gluten free tamari sauce skip the oil
    • Chipotle pepper & garlic powder
    • Chili powder and raw cacao powder
    • Italian or Garlic-Onion seasoning
    • Favorite Mrs. Dash seasoning
    • Taco flavor:  mix cumin powder, dried oregano, and chipotle pepper
    • Smoked paprika and ground turmeric
    • Pumpkin Pie Spice
    • Dried, pulverized lavender flowers and fresh vanilla beans, split pod down the middle, sprinkle seeds on
    • Fresh grated parmesan Reggiano and olive oil
