 Juicing verses smoothies

Juicing removes all of the fiber from the fruits and vegetables that you are juicing.  Smoothies are blended to keep the fiber in.  The advantage of juicing is that once the fiber is removed, the nutrients contained in the juiced fruits and vegetables are more readily absorbed.  Think about how you feel after a heavy, meal.  Sometimes ready for a nap! Since our bodies use energy to digest food, juicing can give you and energy boost without bogging down your digestive tract.

Smoothies are a great energy replacement after a workout.  Adding some plant-based protein powder like hemp or sprouted grain can help build muscle.  And since they contain fiber the body has to work to digest them, so smoothies keep you full longer.  Smoothies are still a relatively light meal and make a great breakfast.  Especially if you are on the go.  Smoothies won’t weigh you down like the SAD breakfast of eggs, toast, sausage or bacon, and hash browns.

Here are some great brands of plant-based protein powders to try in your smoothies…

Don’t forget…whey protein is processed with all the fiber removed. For some people, it can be hard to digest.  It can make you feel bloated. And over time it may build-up as intestinal sledge in your digestive tract.
