Spicy Citrus Grilled Shrimp Recipe

Spicy Citrus Grilled Shrimp Recipe or broil. Quick entrée or appetizer. Pair with leafy green salad & brown rice. Paleo diet pair with grilled cauliflower.

INGREDIENTS – please use organic ingredients

  • 1- 1/2lb Wild-caught Shrimp
  • 1 Lemon
  • 1 Lime
  • 1 Orange or Tangelo or 2 Tangerines or Mandarins
  • 1/4 cup Extra Virgin Olive Oil or Coconut Oil
  • 4 cloves Garlic
  • 1 teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes, more or less, to taste

DIRECTIONS - juice the lemon, lime, and orange (or tangerine, tangelo, etc.) and pour into a glass baking dish or bowl. Whisk in the extra virgin olive oil, pressed garlic, and red pepper flakes. Add the wild-caught shrimp. If you buy it frozen then thaw it first. If you are using smaller size shrimp then you can leave the shell on but the grilled shrimp won’t be as spicy. For larger shrimp, remove shell and devein. Add the shrimp to the marinade. Coat well. Let marinate for 15 minutes then turn or stir shrimp and marinate on other side for 15 minutes more. In the meantime, heat the grill. You can also broil the shrimp. If not grilling then set the broiler to high. When shrimp are done marinating, put them on shish kabob skewers or bamboo skewers. Put on grill over medium heat and grill 2-3 minutes on each side or until shrimp are cooked. The bigger the shrimp, the longer they will take to cook. If you are not grilling, then place the shrimp under the broiler for 2-3 minutes on each side or until shrimp are cooked. The bigger the shrimp, the longer they will take to cook. Serve the shrimp with cocktail sauce or fresh salsa.
