Chia Seed Smoothie Paleo Recipe. Protein-powder free protein shake, plant-based & delicious. Plus it’s loaded with healthy fat in the form of Omega’s 3 & 6.
INGREDIENTS— makes 2 servings, please use organic ingredients
- 2T Chia Seeds
- 1-10 oz. Pkg. Frozen Blackberries or Blueberries
- 1-10 oz. Pkg. Frozen Raspberries or Strawberries
- 1 Banana
- 2C Unsweetened Coconut Milk, from carton at 50 cals. per cup or less or 2C Coconut Water
- Optional—1 to 2 Medjool Dates, pitted to sweeten or more to taste
- Optional—Ice, as needed
SUPER CHARGED SUPER FOOD SHAKE
Add 1 or more of the following…
- 1/4C Gogi Berries
- 1T Hemp Hearts
- 2t Acai Powder
- 2t Maqui Powder
- 2t Camu Camu Powder
DIRECTIONS - add all ingredients to blender, blend until smooth.
WHAT MAKES CHIA SEEDS A SUPER FOOD?
The body needs essential fatty acids or EFAs, for the brain to function properly. And to produce testosterone. Since the body doesn’t produce EFAs on its own, adding them to our daily diet is crucial to good health. One of the most important EFAs that humans require is Omega-3. Omega-3 helps reduce inflammation, lower triglycerides, and lower blood pressure.
Chia seeds are a superior source of Omega-3 and Omega-6. Chia seeds are also a complete source of protein. They are loaded with fiber and also contain calcium, magnesium, and copper. Chia seeds absorb liquid and expand up to 16x their original size, making them a great natural thickening agent.
EASY CHIA SEED PUDDING RECIPE
1-1/2 cups unsweetened nut milk like cashew, almond, or coconut at 50 calories or less per cup + 1/4 cup chia seeds + 1 tablespoon, more or less, to sweeten to taste, of raw honey or pure maple syrup. Optional add 2 tablespoons unsweetened shredded coconut and/or 1 tablespoon of raw cacao powder {for chocolate pudding}. Mix all ingredients, pour into pudding cups, refrigerate until firm. Top with sliced fruit or fresh berries.
